Leif Baumbach is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Neurac Practitioner (CNP). He works at Activcore in Princeton, New Jersey, located just 2 miles from Princeton University.
Leif has a special interest in both athletics and workplace ergonomics. He holds a Bachelors degree in Biology from New Jersey Institute of Technology, graduating with honors. He also earned a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Rutgers University, ranked among the top 50 PT schools in the country. Additionally, he has advanced post-graduate training in postural restoration as well as neuromuscular activation utilizing the Redcord suspension system.
Leif goes beyond the symptoms and looks at the whole body to help you recover from pain and injury, and safely return to a fulfilling life of sport, activity and wellness. He is among less than 1% of all physical therapists to learn from the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI), making him exceptionally equipped to treat you from head to toe. Additionally, he is recognized nationally as a leading authority in the application of Redcord, a suspension exercise system designed to help you develop a smarter, balanced body through the power of neuromuscular activation.
Leif has a significant history as both an athlete and an artist. Throughout his younger years he experienced both sports-related injuries and chronic, posture related issues which progressively piqued his interest in Physical Therapy. He studied Biology as a prerequisite to his PT studies at Rutgers University.
As a PT student Leif was placed at Activcore during his final clinical rotation. This began his introduction to the unique treatment methods that the clinic utilizes to treat their clients. Namely, the NEURAC method and Postural Restoration techniques. During this rotation, Leif was given an overview of how closed-kinetic chain exercises using the Redcord suspension system and postural corrective techniques can be tremendously effective in treating chronic conditions. After finishing his clinical rotation at Activcore and becoming a licensed PT in New Jersey, Leif accepted a position at Activcore in 2016.
As a new therapist, Leif was progressively introduced to a wide array of patient populations ranging from orthopedic sports injury to chronic Neurological conditions. He became most interested in treating patients that work in office environments and artists due to his personal experiences as a hobbyist painter. Leif attended all of the required coursework to earn his Certified Neurac Practitioner (CNP) distinction for mastery of Redcord treatment methods. He also attended several courses conducted by the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) where he learned novel postural corrective exercises in combination with breathing. Armed with this knowledge Leif has been able to treat patients with a variety of chronic and acute injuries ranging from head to toe with success. He employs knowledge from his own experiences as a ‘desk jockey’ student, athlete, and artist to provide patients with practical tips to apply to their own work and home lives.
Leif is always eager to learn and is constantly refining his techniques and seeking out cutting-edge treatment methods. He has enjoyed every opportunity to help his clients return to their work, home, and active lives uninhibited by pain.

For the past couple of years, I've been seeing Leif Baumbach who has helped keep my neck from spasming due to my posture and every day stress. Just like Tyler and Ali, he is so attentive and dedicated to helping his patients. Leif once helped me over the phone the night before one of my dance performances when I unexpectedly developed severe foot pain. He figured out the issue and gave me exercises to keep me pain free through my event the next day. I couldn't be more grateful to know that I have a kind, patient therapist who is always there to help and has truly become my friend!
Activcore is THE place for physical therapy. Other places don't even come close. The cost may seem higher but most of them have a therapist rotate between multiple people in an hour giving you less, and prolonging your recovery. With Activcore, you get focused and dedicated individuals making your recovery time shorter. Leif Baumbach was my therapist and I recommend him and the entire team at Activcore as the best in the field.
During my junior year of high school I had torn my hamstring from track and dislocated my shoulder from basketball. I had gone to two local physical therapists in my town of Hillsborough, but both therapists didn't give me the individual care and attention that I received from Activcore. When I had gone to the other therapists, they were giving me generic exercises and were floating around helping multiple patients at a time. With the lack of individual care I noticed that my hamstring and my shoulder were getting better at an extremely slow rate. We decided to try Activcore and pay a little extra money. It was the best decision we had made. I worked with Adrienne for the most part, and occasionally with Leif, and both therapists truly tried to understand my problem and they used their affective methods to give me extremely tough (yet rewarding) exercises to work on at home and at the facility. For my hamstring, Adrienne had me ready to go in a matter of a few months, which was exponentially faster than my experience at the other therapists. It turns out going to Activcore was cheaper than going to a local therapist because the results came quickly and I did not need nearly as many sessions. I swear by this place, and I will go here for any physical therapy needs I may have in the future!
If you want to be tossed around between 3 other patients and one therapist like a chaotic PT salad, then go elsewhere. At ActivCore I was treated 1-on-1 by a number of great therapists, primarily Brian. I also worked with Nick, Leif, and Jason who all brought mad skills to the table as well. These people know their stuff and consider the whole body during treatments as opposed to focusing on a single problem area. They’re a team of PT superheroes, and Redcord is their superpower tool. Unfortunately I found out many of my mysterious painful symptoms were caused by an autoimmune disorder rather than just physiological stuff. However, these guys are my first stop shop once I’m all clear and ready to roll. Keep it up gang!!
