Nick Passe is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who specializes in contact sports like football, basketball, lacrosse and ice hockey. He works at Activcore in Princeton, New Jersey, located just 2 miles from Princeton University.
As a former football player and college cheerleader, Nick knows what it takes to succeed in competitive sports and to overcome injuries. He holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Natural Sciences from Pittsburgh University, as well as a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now part of Rutgers University), ranked among the top 50 PT schools in the country. He also has advanced post-graduate training in movement assessment and treatment of athletes, including concussion management and prevention.
Nick goes beyond the symptoms and looks at the whole body to help his athletes recover from pain and injury, and safely return to a fulfilling life of sport, activity and wellness. He is among just a handful of physical therapists nationwide to have earned the prestigious designation as a Certified Neurac Provider (CNP), making him exceptionally equipped to evaluate and treat each athlete from head to toe.
Applying the principles of Neurac (Neuromuscular Activation), Nick utilizes the Redcord suspension system to optimize how the mind and muscles work together as one. This is an evidence-based method that a few high-level sports teams are using to keep their athletes healthy and free from pain and injury. In fact, Nick has the pleasure every few months to teach these principles to both the Washington Capitals NHL team and the Washington Nationals MLB team.
As a teenager, physical therapy was a necessity for Nick, when shoulder surgery kept him off the football field. This quickly sparked an interest in physical therapy. However, it was during his studies at the University of Pittsburgh where the stones of his path to a career in physical therapy began. Nick was a pre-med major but his aversion to organic chemistry led him to pursue other studies. He became fascinated by the mind-body connections as he took classes to get into physical therapy school.
The science behind pain and rehabilitation became a passion for Nick in graduate school. As a PT student, he was introduced to Activcore's treatment model and the revolutionary Redcord suspension system. He saw immediate and effective results that people experienced with the application of neuromuscular activation, bringing the power of the mind and body to healing the root cause of their pain and dysfunction.
One of the most surprising results Nick achieved was healing athletes with post concussion symptoms. Suffering four concussions personally drew Nick into this area of study. He enjoyed treating and healing people who could not find relief from the life altering symptoms associated with these injuries.
At Activcore, Nick is able to work individually and intensively with each athlete. He tailors the therapy sessions to meet the needs of his clients — helping them achieve their goals, whether that means enjoying hobbies, chasing personal athletic records, or being the best version of themselves.
Over time, Nick has achieved the highest skill level of a Redcord Neurac practitioner. He is a leading national instructor who certifies other clinicians in this process. His expertise and love of sports allows him the opportunity to consult with the Washington Capitals and the Washington Nationals on a regular basis.
On his time off, Nick is most passionate about his family and supporting his team, the Pitt Panthers. If you have a chance to visit the Activcore Princeton center, you will find Nick enjoying his clients, his work, and the fun team atmosphere Nick helps to create.

I spent about five months dealing with post-concussive syndrome after a minor head injury. I was almost house-bound waiting to recover, until I met with Nick Passe. With his help, I finally started to make progress, and I was able to regain confidence in physical and mental activity. My symptoms have drastically lessened since I worked with Nick and I've been able to return to school and all my old routines. I'm extremely grateful for his help!
I am a college athlete, competitive Cheerleading, and I was just about to win my second national title before I dislocated my shoulder. I had to get surgery to repair it, and I was extremely worried about not being healed an ready for my season. I got referred to Activcore, and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. I was a little skeptical about the Redcord system at first, but it made me stronger than I ever anticipated post surgery. I loved the one on one personalized attention from my extremely knowledgeable therapist Nick. I did three months of treatment at Activcore, and I truly believe that if I had gone anywhere else, I would not be as strong and healed as I am today. I loved that Nick would personalize my treatment for the movements, and actions that I would need for tumbling and cheerleading. I would recommend Activcore to not just athletes, but anyone who truly wants to see results.
Everyone needs functional movement!! After messing up my shoulder carrying luggage I went from 10% to 90% movement after my first treatment! Now I go to Activcore to keep myself balanced and in good health. I have probably sent 15 new people to ActivCore..... 90% being told they needed surgery..... they are all doing better and not one had surgery! Pretty powerful message. Dr. Nick Passe was my therapist but they are all great!
I was elated to have been referred to Activcore. In March of 2018 I took a bad fall and injured my back and hip. I tried many modalities and to no avail I was still in a great deal of pain. I had my first session and I was amazed. YES, less pain the first visit! The staff are amazing. Professional, friendly and helpful from the moment you make the appointment. My therapist Nick Passe is confident, knowledgeable, compassionate and sensitive to my discomfort. I have been improving with each session and look forward to resuming my active lifestyle. I will be forever grateful. Thank you Activcore!
I had shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum five weeks ago. I started therapy with Nick last week and so far have had just four sessions. Last week when I came out of the sling I had extremely limited range of motion. Fast forward to today (again, just a week and a half later): I have nearly full range of motion regained and am beginning to regain strength.
Unlike traditional PT sessions, your hour with the physical therapist is 100% one-on-one. There is no rotating between patients: the attention is all on you. This is incredibly beneficial in terms of maximizing gains during the session.
I fell on concrete steps and initially did traditional physical therapy with so much discomfort I stopped. I had surgery on the knee and was told I would need to have knee replacement. A friend in BNI recommended Activcore to me as another option. I'm delighted with the progress I've made with Nick Passe and Tyler Joyce. I've improved so much with the Redcord suspension therapy. Nick is very knowledgeable person and the treatment plan has not only improved my knee's strength but also helped me regain core strength. I look forward to every visit, we have such enjoyable conversations during my time.
I came to Activcore seeking treatment for mid-back pain that I have been feeling for years from sitting at a desk for both school and work. Having always been conscious of my posture, my symptoms never really made much sense to me. I saw an orthopedist in hopes of a diagnosis, and seeked previous physical therapy and massage therapy treatments which helped initially, but never gave me the long lasting result I was looking for. Thankfully, I have found much improvement in the duration of symptom improvement at Activcore working with Nick Passe in only 3 visits. He is an expert with the redcord, is very knowledgeable and always makes the hour long PT sessions a fun experience. My schedule is generally very busy, but he has been able to give me direction and home exercises that have helped me between sessions. I highly recommend Activcore and Nick to anyone seeking physical therapy in the Princeton area.
