Erika Leeds is a performance specialist at Activcore with certifications in Gyrotonic®, Gyrokinesis®, and Pilates. She works at the Activcore studio in Atlanta, Georgia, located just 2 miles from Emory University.
Erika, originally from South Florida, began her dance training at a young age. Her passion for movement grew while studying at Florida State University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was during her time at FSU that she was introduced to a variety of somatic practices, including the Pilates method and the Gyrotonic Expansion System® in order to recover from an injury.
Erika began her journey in the Gyrotonic Expansion System® in 2011 when she earned her Gyrotonic® Level 1 certification and soon after her Gyrokinesis® Level 1 certification. She went deeper into her training of the system continuing on to earn various specialized certifications including a Gyrotonic® Level 2 certification, Jumping Stretching Board Certification, Gyrotoner® Certification, Leg Extension Unit Certification, and the Gyrotonic® Application for Shoulder Girdle course.
In 2017, Erika earned her Advanced Teacher Training diploma from The Pilates Center’s intensive Advanced Teacher Training Program and later completed her Host Advisor training. These achievements qualify her as a teacher of teachers in the Pilates Method allowing her to passionately share and guide the next generation of teachers.
Erika has performed for various companies, including Staibdance, with whom she was grateful for the opportunity to perform both nationally and internationally. Currently she is working as the Dance Conditioning Coordinator at Florida State University, helping dancers integrate the principles of conditioning into their studio practice to promote longevity in the field.
Erika Leeds is great and very attentive. She helps me with my form and is very patient and encouraging.
