Erica Dekle is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who is passionate about all aspects of exercise, sports rehabilitation (especially for swimmers), and women's health for pregnant and postpartum moms. She works at Activcore in Atlanta, Georgia, located just 2 miles from Emory University.
Erica graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 2017 with a degree in Psychology. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Samford University. Since graduating from PT school, she has received advanced training in strength and conditioning training, return-to-sport programming for youth athletes, and trigger point dry needling with level 1 and level 2 certifications. She is also learning how to use the Redcord suspension system to help her clients regain control of their body's core stabilizer muscles.
Erica’s biggest inspiration for choosing a career in physical therapy is her father. Also a physical therapist, he has been practicing for almost 30 years and truly enjoys what he does. One summer in college, Erica shadowed at her dad’s PT clinic and fell in love with the relationships formed between the providers and their patients.
Erica has always had a passion for health and wellness. She grew up swimming competitively at both the high school and collegiate level. So pursuing the field of physical therapy was a natural fit for her.
Erica has worked in outpatient sports settings since graduating PT school. She has experience working with a wide range of orthopedic and post-operative conditions, as well as return to sport programming. In particular, she has become passionate about helping swimmers and other active populations, especially those with ACL knee injuries.
Erica’s treatment style includes a combination of manual therapy interventions such as soft tissue mobilization, cupping, dry needling, and joint mobilizations. She also applies strength training and Low Pressure Fitness for optimizing function of their muscles.
Erica chose to work at Activcore because she believes that physical therapy should be tailored to each individual person. The one-on-one approach is a huge differentiator between Activcore and other PT clinics. She believes this quality is critical to the success of her treatments.
When not at Activcore, Erica enjoys exploring her new city of Atlanta, going to the beach, hiking, and taking her family boat out to Gulf Shores and Mobile Bay where she grew up.
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for Dr. Erica Dekle. As an avid runner who was not able to run, Erica was always there to motivate me. She is extremely kind, knowledgeable and patient. She takes the time to teach her exercises, and makes sure that each one is done correctly. Erica took the time to treat me as a person, not just an injury and would even step in to work on other pains that popped up as I was getting back into running. On top of that, Erica became a friend and made physical therapy a fun doctors appointment! I can easily say she's one of the main reasons I am able to get back into running. Erica is absolutely incredible to work with and I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
