Skylar Orton is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) who specializes in sports injury rehabilitation, orthopedics and complex pain syndromes. She works at Activcore in Greenwood Village, Colorado. This studio is conveniently located inside Pilates Denver in the Denver Tech Center (DTC) area.
Skylar has been practicing PT since 2006. She graduated with a BS in Exercise Science as well as her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina. She is board certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the APTA and Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute. She is also a licensed massage therapist in the State of Colorado. Skylar has Level II training and certification in Functional Dry Needling.
Skylar was inspired to go into movement therapy initially after receiving treatment for her scoliosis. She found guided exercise was the best medicine for her back stiffness and pain and wanted to help others achieve the same relief.
Skylar believes in multiple paths to pain free movement and feels the individual should be viewed holistically to determine the best plan of care. She draws from a broad range of evidence based treatments, from manual therapies to active movement in order to achieve the desired results.
Skylar has advanced training in the treatment of spinal pain and she enjoys treating musculoskeletal pain of the shoulder, hips, knees, and ankles. She aims to help patients become independent in their care through education and guidance.
Skylar joined Activcore to further her journey in providing patients with the best care. She appreciates that the Activcore model allows for focused, longer, one on one time sessions to understand each patient's unique story and tailor a program to their individual needs.
When not at work, Skylar loves spending time with her husband and two kids. She enjoys walking her Havanese dog, yoga, cross country and downhill skiing, hiking, and traveling.
I wanted to take the time to thank Dr. Skylar Orton for all the work she did these past few months. It’s funny, as someone who is about to graduate from medical school, I spent a surprisingly small amount of time being the recipient of medical care. Consequently, before working with Skylar I would never personally experienced the importance of having a practitioner you really connect with and even more importantly a practitioner you know truly cares about your health. So thank you for all of the work you did to help my back, but I thank you even more for teaching me the value of genuinely connection with patients, as I know it will help me be a better physician in the future.
Skylar, you have made a wonderful change in alleviating my back and neck problems. You are absolutely the best physical therapist I have ever gone to.
Skylar is a miracle worker in my making my body work in ways I did not think possible. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
